Question about optional backup disc with online purchase

Thread needs solution

Hi,

At the Acronis online store there is an option to add a physical Backup Disc to the True Image 2017 order. Will this this disc work with Mac and PC?

Welcome to these user forums.

The optional physical backup disc would be for installing the ATIH 2017 application depending on which specific product version you have purchased.  Personally I do not have any physical Acronis install media on discs - once you have purchased the product and registered this with your own Acronis account, then you can always download the latest build version for your registered product as an executable file.

In your Acronis account you would find different installers for Windows and Mac if you have purchased both of these.

You'd basically just purchasing a pre-built installation CD.  I would recommend saving the money and download the installer from your account as Steve recommended too.

As for creating bootable rescue media, you can download the Windows.iso from your account and burn to disc.  See this KB article - it is for 2016, but applies to 2017 as well.

There is no single disc that works on both Mac and Windows.  You need one for Mac and one for Windows.

You can build either a CD/DVD with each installed version (Mac or Window), or better yet, create a bootable USB flash drive instead (again though, one for mac and one for Windows). You only need 1Gb to make a bootable USB flash drive, but they are so cheap these days, a decent USB 3.0 flash drive that is 8-16Gb should only be about $6 (if you don't have them already).  You can use USB 2.0 flash drives as well, but they'll just be slower (assuming you have USB 3.0 capable ports on your system).
