TI Cannot find backup to restore files from!

Thread needs solution

I tried to recover files from a TI backup and just got the error as per attached file.  That says version 4, but it started by not seeing version 12, but I kept (maybe wrongly!) selecting 'Ignore this version'.

I have also attached a grab of the location of the files in question to show they exist.

Also, double clicking on the backuos in File Explorer shows the backed up files absolutely fine, and I can recover them OK.

What is going on?

This type of error is caused for several reasons:

  1. Backup files have been deleted manually via Windows Explorer without running a Validation for the Acronis backup task that created them.  This leaves information for the deleted files in the Acronis Database which then looks for the missing files when you start any actions for the task.
  2. Backup files may have been moved or the backup drive may have been allocated a different driver letter.
  3. You are attempting to restore or recover from the backup from within the Windows Acronis GUI application which refers to the Acronis Database.

Any recovery that is started from the Acronis Rescue Media does not use the Acronis Database information, so would not show this issue.

You should run a Validation for any backup tasks which exhibit this error and take the Ignore options for all missing files so that the Database information can be reconciled with the actual status of files that remain.
