Acronis will not install on WINDOWS !) S MODE version

Thread needs solution

I have had a major system fail resulting in a complete Install of Windows 10 pro 64.  The download has installed S Mode version, which I cannot undo as Microsoft directions to switch will not work

My licence for Acronis True Image 2918 will not install.  I download the installer and then Windows error report says that this app cannot be installed on Windows S Mode,  All My other apps have installed correctly, including ESET Security.  The problem appears to be that Acronis products have not been approved by Microsoft.

Please help, Thank you.

Jon, welcome to these User Forums.

I do not remember seeing any other reports in the forums where Windows 10 'S' Mode has been mentioned, but have a vague recollection that this restricted applications to only those provided via the Microsoft Store.

I would suggest opening a Support Case directly with Acronis Support for this issue - the ATI 2018 User Guide section on Supported operating systems clearly states:

Windows 10 (all editions, including April 2018 Update) *
(where * excludes Beta / Insiders versions) but makes no mention of the 'S' Mode version.

Steve, you are correct that "S" mode will not support Acronis products - you can only install products via the Microsoft store. To install ATI you will need to change from "S" mode to full mode. The process is described here

Ian

Thank you all and thank you Ian.  The problem is that you cannot change back from S Mode if you have downloaded to rebuild the OS from a previous on-line registered licence.  The page you point to does not provide the means to switch nor does the App Store.  It is only Acronis that I have a problem with, and as stated above and in the Acronis literature all versions of Windows will work on WIN10 OS.  Microsoft say it is not there problem as it should work, it is up tp Acronis to do the fix not Microsoft.

I will be grateful for further responses, in the meantime I will try and raise a support ticket

You would need to install Acronis to the Windows 10 S image before you deploy it.  You absolutely can migrate out of S mode if you are not a system builder.
