After Restore to new larger drive extra space not included in partition???
My existing 500gb C: was failing so I purchased Acronis, did a full backup and then recovered to a new 1TB drive to replace the failing 500 gb C: drive.
The restore worked fine and the computer boots fine but the C: now has a 465gb unallocated partition at the end.
How to I make my C: drive the entire 1TB???
I right clicked on the main C: drive partition but the Extend option is grayed out.
Thanks,
Rick

Richard, I agree with Thomas in his answer. The reason why you are not able to extend your C: OS partition into the unallocated space on the new 1TB drive is most likely because you have a small Windows Recovery partition following the OS partition, so you would need to use a partition manager tool (like MiniTool Partition Wizard) to move the Recovery partition to the end of the unallocated space, then extend your OS partition to fill the remaining unallocated space.

In risposta a Richard, I agree with Thomas… di truwrikodrorow…

Thanks Thomas and Steve, the partition manager worked fine.
I do have one other question - after the restore was completed I noticed I had a new drive that didn't exist before that is identified as a System Reserved. It is 100mb with about 66mb free. It was assigned Drive F:
My questions are: 1) what is this new drive, and do I need it and if so what is it used for, and 2) will I cause any problem if I change the drive letter to something further down the alphabet?
Thanks for all your help.

Rick, the System Reserved partition should be left alone though it does not normally have a drive letter assigned - this is the normal location where the Windows Boot Configuration Data store resides, so can be essential for correct booting into Windows.
You could simply remove the current drive letter from this partition if a reboot does not do this for you automatically.
