backup finishes too soon

Thread needs solution

Using the differential Scheme to backup multiple drives & folders on a single computer.

When I start the backup, after the initial backup, it takes quite a while to come up with an estimated time and the amount of data to be processed. But then it complete the task all at once; successfully it says????

Did it really .... and why such a large amount of data, after it had already backed up once?

I ran the same task again, with the same results. Am I not understanding how the software works?

Probably so, but I'd like some reassurance that I'm actually backing-up my data.

Chris, welcome to these User Forums.

What is the size of your Source data that you are selecting here for your multiple drives & folders?

What is the size of the ATI backup image .tib file that is created by the backup process?

All backups must start with an initial Full backup image which will be of significant size, then further differential backups will vary in size depending on the degree of change taking place for the source data.

I would recommend downloading the MVP Log Viewer tool (from the Community Tools link in my signature) and using this to see what exactly is being reported in the backup logs for this task?  This should tell you in more details if any errors are occurring and what these are?
