Confused about versions

Thread solved

I've been a user since 2014. In 2018 I 'upgraded' to ATI 2018 Premium since when I've simply allowed the auto-renewal payments to go through each August, the latest yesterday. I've installed all the updates as and when released. (|Win 10 x64)

I notice that I am still paying for "ATI 2018 Premium" - am I missing out on features introduced after my version? Is there any benefit from 'upgrading' to 2021? (I haven't received any communications from Acronis/Cleverbridge inviting me to do so.)

If you have any subscription version of ATI then you are entitled to free upgrades of all new versions of ATI that come along, so should have been able to upgrade to 2019, 2020 and 2021 as they were released.

The main benefit of upgrading to 2019 & later is the introduction of the 'Clean up versions' tool to make life a whole lot simpler / easier when you need to do any cleanup activities.

KB 61844: Acronis True Image 2019, 2020 and 2021: How to delete old backups

There are wide differences in views from users about the changes introduced in 2020 & 2021 where Acronis first introduced .tibx files for all new disks & partitions backups, and in 2021 brought in their Cyber Protection antivirus / ransomware features.  The latter has been a lot like 'Marmite' for many users who either love or hate the features!

I would suggest reading some of the topics in the ATI 2021 forum to get a wider flavour of the discussion around that version.

If you do decide to try 2021 then make a full disk backup of your current system to allow yourself to restore back to it if you later decide that 2021 isn't for you!

See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.

Steve - thank you for a prompt and comprehensive reply - far better than the brief and confusing answer I got from Acronis Support!

A lot to digest there but once I've done some reading I'm sure I'll have my answers. I have upgraded regularly so I feel safe I have the necessary protection. Thanks again.
