Does the Acronis True Image 2018 upgrade result in the same licence, product and product use (compared to a full version bought in one step) after the upgrade is complete?
Hi does anyone know the answer to this question please?
At https://www.acronis.com/en-au/personal/upgrade-backup/
it says:
"Upgrade to Acronis True Image 2018
Now’s the time: Upgrade your older one-time purchase license to Acronis True Image 2018 Standard. Already have a subscription license? You’ll be upgraded automatically."
Does the upgrade result in the same licence, product and product use after the upgrade is complete? I am particularly interested in how the product would behave after upgrade, when transferred to another computer or transferred to another account. If a qualifying prior product needs to be proved on each new machine, then the words above saying "You’ll be upgraded automatically" are not true. This is particularly important if the qualifying product depends on hardware present in the original machine, which is absent in the machine being transferred to. An example of this would be the reliance on a Western Digital hard drive being present in the machine so that Acronis WD OEM can be installed and activated, which in turn allows the upgrade to the full version of Acronis to be activated. If I obtain the full version of Acronis through an upgrade process, it is reasonable to expect that product to work on another machine from then on, in exactly the same way as a full license bought in one step.
If that is not true, then the words above "Upgrade your older one-time purchase license to Acronis True Image 2018 Standard" are false.
Here are my questions:
Does the upgrade result in the same licence, product and product use (compared to a full version bought in one step) after the upgrade is complete?
If not, please explain the differences.
Please state whether my ability to activate on a new machine could be reliant on hardware no longer present in an old machine.
Please note that the nature of this activation is not to do with the process described here:

My experience mirrors that of Steve Smith.
Mind you, some time the Acronis pricing can be confusing when they have a promotion on. On more than one occasion in the past the price for full version and upgrade version was the same.
One interesting aspect of the upgrade policy (which as far as I know is still the case) is that you can use an older ATI single PC licence to upgrade the current version 2 or 5 user licence.
