How can re-installation of apps/programs be done when doing a total refresh of Windows 10/64?

Thread needs solution

I have a Windows 10/64 machine with a modest SSD which PROBABLY needs to have a complete refresh of WIndows 10.

What would be the correct method to backup everything on the C:\ (boot) SSD so that after reinstalling/refreshing Windows 10, I could get all the apps/programs added back but NOT have to reinstall anything except Windows 10?

The SSD is a 256GB and I have plenty of external hard-drive space.

Currently have Acronis 2017, but have not used it nor do I understand it very well!

Perhaps someone could advise a senior-citizen? lol.
TIA.

Dave, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but you cannot use Acronis True Image to do what you are asking here.
See KB 19296: Acronis products cannot be used to transfer applications to different system or upgrade OS which explains why this is so.

With your Windows 10 OS each new Update such as the latest Spring Update (#1803) is in essence a refresh of Windows, so unless you have a specific problem which is causing Windows not to work correctly, then you shouldn't need to be doing a clean reinstall of the OS here.

You may want to take a look at forum topic:Great Acronis "How-To" videos and other Acronis Resources for general guidance on using your ATI 2017 application.
