How do I give my backup versions a name or label?
Suppose I have 10 backups of a drive. The fourth one was made when I installed Visual Studio, the 5th When I installed Diablo 3 etc.
How can I mark backup versions with a name, label or note?

Thanks, comments would be perfect, but where's the option to add comments? I don't see it in your dropdown
UPDATE: I've just noticed the boot up recovery tool lets you add and edit comments to each backup version (incremental/full updates) to a backup like I asked, but the Windows app does not. It wont even show the comments??

John, the option to add a comment is at the bottom of each backup.
I have marked it yellow on my screenshot.

That only adds a comment to the whole backup set, not a specific backup revision retospecivly.
Say for example I have a backup of drive C that has 10 versions/revisions. I want to go back and give revision 5 the comment "This worked with Skype" or something. The desktop tool does not allow me to do this retrospectivly.
However, bootable backup tool does; I can edit any comment, on any backup revision, be it past or present.
The desktop app does not allow me to do this. There's no way to select a specific backup revision and add or edit it's comment. Only the whole backup for future revisions.

John, you can rename the Backup task before making any new backups and this will give you a backup file with that new name. This can get messy unless you keep all the files in the same folder separate from any other backups, and keep the initial part of the task name constant to show that they are all related.
You can see the effect of renaming in the screen shot of a test backup I renamed a couple of times. The backup scheme was continued, i.e. creating new incrementals per the scheme settings.

Hi Steve, Please read my further remarks on this thread. To summerise:
You can only add comments to a backup SET, which will then add them to future backup VERSIONS.
You cannot add or edit comments to PRIOR backup VERSIONS with the desktop app.
However, the boot time tool allows you to do this. You can add and edit comments to past or present backup VERSIONS at any time.. Not just future ones.

Just to clarify further, here in the bootable recovery tool I was able to add comments to any version of a backup. I can't find where to do that in the Desktop tool

John, I understand about the comments, which as you have said only apply to the whole backup task but if you want to use this option, then you can just add further comments to reflect the changes being backed up.
You can add multiple lines to the comments, so could use it as a form of backup log of changes.

But the bootable tool lets you add comments directly to specific backup version, past or present. Not just a general list as I see in the desktop version. Multiple lines of comments are not the same thing as you can't tell which line's comment refers to a specific backup version.
Not only that, but the bootable tool lets me edit comments from any version without having to perform another backup just to make a comment.
Here's screenshots of this happening.
All I'm asking for is how this is achieved in the desktop app.

John, what you are asking for is not possible in the desktop app.

Can this be achieved in any more recent version of the True Image app ? I have 2019 and it's not possible.

Julien, what exactly are you wanting to achieve here regarding comments?
Comments can be added in the ATI 2019 GUI as described in the User Guide.
See Backing up disks and partitions - and the image in step 6. where the comment box is shown to the left of [Options] as a speech bubble.
Step 9. [optional step] Click the Add a comment icon, and then type a comment to the backup version. Backup comments will help you to find the necessary version later, when recovering your data.
