HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook freezes after 30 seconds from the usk key ATI 2018 menu.
Hello.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC/3628, BIOS F.46 08/25/2011 with an spin disk (320GB) and a new SSD disk (250GB) istalled
I boot it with Acronis true image 2018 (64bit) from the USB key to clone the spin disk to the new ssd.
Every action i did from the ATI menu it freezes after about 30 seconds. Clone disk , backup ... after about 30 seconds the mouse can move but can 't click anywhere.... to restart i need to force a PC power off.
I could run the report from the boot menu without it freeze .
What can it be the causes?
I have the report AcronisSystemReport_Jun_1__2019_9_23_18_PM.zip and the Acronis version image is :Linux version 4.9.51-Acronis-b12-x86_64 (root@acronis) (gcc version 5.3.0 ) #1 SMP Wed Sep 20 23:44:56 MSK 2017
Since the report contain many files what can be usefull to post here to undestand the problem?
Or... is it a known issue?
thanks a lot.
Roby

Hi Steve here is the step to get pc frozen
- boot from ATI usb media ( standalone ATI )
- chose ATI 64bit
- Get the menu , select clone disk
- src HHD dst SSD
- Clone starting , step # time ###
- Frozen after about 30~60 seconds
OR
- boot from ATI usb media ( standalone ATI )
- chose ATI 64bit
- Get the menu , select Backup
- choice disk and/or Partition
- Browse destination
- frozen during the process after about 30~60 seconds
- Backup does not yet started...
As workaround i install the HHD and SSD on another laptop and i have completed my clone.
The reinstall the SSD on HP pavilion as boot device and finish . but it is a workaround...
thanks

Roby, thanks for the extra details of the steps being taken, and good that you have been able to complete the clone on a different computer.
How long did you wait for when the boot media application looked to be frozen?

I did more tests leaving it with the progress bar that stopped after 60 seconds for more than 15 minutes which is even more than the time needed to run the whole image.
If you need the Acronis reports of the pc let me know.
thanks , cheers

Roby, I'm not sure that there would be a lot of value in reviewing the System Report file at this point given you have achieved the aim of cloning from the HDD to the SSD.
What I would recommend is to ensure that you have the latest / final build #15470 of ATI 2018 and that you create a new copy of the Acronis Rescue media using the Simple method which is based on your Windows Recovery Environment from the source computer.
See the following documents:
KB 60820: Acronis True Image 2018: how to create bootable media
KB 60091: Acronis True Image 2018: how Simple bootable media creation mode works

Hello Steve.
Yes the ATI is the latest / final build #15470
I usually use Advanced linux based USB key bootable media... in this case i'll try to build a Simple one but cant see the USB key media as destination in ... only ISO DVD or... is it the "Plug In Your External drive" that will reflect my USB key once inserted ? I suppose yes...
thanks a lot

Roby, yes you would need to plug in your USB stick for it to show as a destination for the rescue media in the builder tool.

Hi Steve,
I successfully performed the clone disk by creating a Rescue Media Builder | Simple | USB Key instead of the advanced Linux media.
I don't know the differences or causes but so it worked and it didn't stop. In this case I performed the clone from SSD to HDD.
To verify , I also boot from the cloned HDD and it boots.
I never used the Simple media builder before.
Thanks for the help
Ciao,
Roby
