I'm getting dual backups

Thread solved

As posted on another thread, I installed version 2004 of Windows 10 losing WiFi among other things.  I was able to restore 1903 from an Acronis backup.  In the process the computer's name changed and it no longer had access to the older backups except by booting into the Startup Recovery Manager.  Instead it started a new backup set.

Two days later I was checking the backup drive and discovered the old computer name was still backing up along with the new.  The sizes were slightly different but quite close.   However, how is this possible?

Once I have confidence in the new setup I can delete the old but I am curious what is being backed up and why.

If you "cloned" your old Windows installation to you new PC than ATI will continue to run the old backup task unless you "disable it"; It information used to identify the disks/partitions are to be backed up is the same on the "cloned" installation as on the original installation (even if the disk type and size differs).

Robert, after restoring your backup to recover back to Win 10 190?, did you have to reconfigure this problem task in the GUI?  If so, then the task would have a new script identifier which would then run separately to the original script known to the Acronis Scheduler.

The way to resolve this issue is to look in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts and identify the 2 scripts for this task among the .tib.tis XML files - open these in Notepad to see the task name near the top.

Once you find the correct script, you can use the Acronis Scheduler Manager tool to remove the scheduled entry for the unwanted task.  Link below for the tool.

Thanks guys.  I didn't realize the old backup could still identify the computer.

I turned the old backup off but will retain the backups until I'm sure everything is working correctly.
