MVP Assistant - True Image Not Installed

Thread solved

Good Afternoon,

I downloaded and installed MVP Assistant 2.3.2.0.  As I was creating a project, I was instructed to download APK v2004.  I downloaded Win10 APK v2004 and installed.  Then I downloaded Win10 APK v2004 WinPE addon.  In MVP Assistant, I added this to the project.  Then I chose "Build" to a blank 16GB USB.

True Image 2018 was not installed.  I have a perpetual license for True Image 2018.  My current build is 15560, which TI says is up to date.

I did receive some error messages in my notification center (on the taskbar) that there were processes not trusted by Acronis.  The ones I recognized I trusted.  Would this interfere with MVP Assistant including TI on the rescue media?

Please let me know if you need more information, and thank you in advance for any assistance.

Paul, welcome to these public User Forums.

The MVP Assistant tool will only install ATI 2018 if it is actually installed on the same computer in order for the tool to find the required files that it needs to do this.

The tool also does not require you to download and install the Windows 10 ADK and PE kits as it can use the Windows RE (Recovery Environment) files to create WinPE / WinRE media.

Steve,

Thank you.  I have always liked TI.

I should have been more detailed.  I downloaded MVP Assistant on the same machine where ATI 2018 is installed.  However, when I create a project, MVP does not find ATI 2018, and does not install it on the USB drive when I Build the project.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Paul

Paul, the first check here is to confirm that the standard integrated media builder provided by Acronis will find ATI 2018 and create 'Simple' USB rescue media?  If that works then the MVP Assistant should also work as uses the same source PE files.

If the Acronis media builder doesn't work, then a Repair install of ATI 2018 is recommended, ensuring that this is done using an Administrator account to get all the correct authorities etc.

Steve,

I was able to use the Acronis 'Simple' USB rescue media.  The result was a USB that contained TI.

When I tried again to create a fresh project and build with MVP Assistant, the USB media was created, but TI was not installed.  Other tools, such as Notepad++, and a few others, all installed.

Paul, please check that you are using the latest version of the MVP Assistant and also post a copy of the log for the project where TI isn't being installed in the media.

MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.4.2)

The log is shown in the Project menu after the project has been selected and loaded.

Steve,

I updated to v2.4.2 (was using v2.3.2).  I also turned Active Protection off while building.

Results were the same.  I am not able to attach the log file.  Text to follow:

Paul, I have asked the tool author, BrunoC, to cast his eye over this topic as he is best placed to know what might be causing this error!

Paul,

Your log shows that there is a failure in the installation. I sent you a message back channel which has a link to a test version of the MVP Assistant which should put out a message to provide me additional information about what may have failed.

I am concerned about this info from your original post...
I did receive some error messages in my notification center (on the taskbar) that there were processes not trusted by Acronis.  The ones I recognized I trusted.  Would this interfere with MVP Assistant including TI on the rescue media?

I don't know if this could be a factor, but it would be nice to know more details about this.

BrunoC,

I received your link and installed the test version of MVP Assistant.  While the rescue media was installing True Image 2018, I received an error message:

Loading resource.xml

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

After clicking OK, the rescue media skipped True Image and continued without issue.

The original message mentioned errors in my Windows Notifications.  I don't remember exactly which processes were mentioned.  However, I have since turned Acronis Active Protection off while making rescue media, and the notifications do not occur anymore.

Thank you for your help.  Please let me know if there is anything else you need.

Paul

Paul, message sent back channel.

Paul, I installed ATI 2018 on my machine and discovered that the file I was expecting does not exist so the MVP Assistant media builder is not able to install versions of ATI prior to 2019.

The solution is to use the Acronis True Image builder to first build a .wim file and then use that as the image source for the MVP Assistant builder.

BrunoC,

Thank you for your help.  I was able to use the .wim file to build the rescue media with True Image 2018 installed.

Glad to hear that worked.

I've been preparing my next release which will detect this situation and handle it more clearly so it should not present an unknown.
