One incremental backup file instead of many

Hi,

I used to use Crashplan for my backups. I had it set to incremental backups and with every file change it made an incremental backup of that file and stored it in the existing backup as a version.

When I bought True Image 2018 I assumed that it handled incremental backups in a similar way but just noticed that it just creates a new file?

How do i get it to act in such a way that it adds a version of a changed file to the original backup?

Erol, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but ATI 2018 does not allow you to do as you did for Crashplan - Acronis creates an initial full backup image and then creates further Incremental or Differential images that are based on the prior backup file and the changes that have occurred since it was created.  All files created are read/only files with no option to update these with further items.

Windows File History will give you similar results, although it doesn't use one big file but rather keeps copies of the files within a backup folder on an external drive. In practice however you'd get a similar outcome in that each time it takes a snapshot it captures new file versions and essentially keeps them forever (or at least until space runs out). You can easily recover prior versions within Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Restore Previous Versions".
