Recovering a Partition
I created a backup of my C: Drive (partition), but when I attempted to restore it I was presented with three check boxes::
EFI System Partion
Recovery Partition
Windows (C:)
Checking the Windows (C:) box makes sense, but I don't understand what the EFI System and Recovery Partitions are, and whether they are necessary/unnecessary/critical...
Thanks

The EFI System partition has a database of attached devices used when starting up the computer. If the partition is not there it probably will not start. If you do not check them they could be overwritten by the Windows drive. As they are both very small partitions they will have negligible impact on the time to do the recovery.

@Tom
I suppose I did run a Full Disk and Partitions backup (my C: drive is a separate physical drive [256 GB SSD]), although I didn't realize the disk had multiple partitions until I tried to restore. Thank you for the EFI and Recovery explanations.
