Restore on VM and Physical box

Thread needs solution

Hi experts

I am using Acronis True image home on two computers. i have taken the backup of C, D and E drive.

I want to do a baremetal recovery on one physical PC and other on Vmware Workstation. Both the computers are windows 7 , Few days back i tried to restore it on a virtual machine but i am getting blue screen error when VM boot.

Experts guide me to restore the backup.

RF,

If you can open the backup with Windows Explorer and view the contents chances are that the backup can be restored just fine.  You may need to use Universal Restore if the machines hardware differs as driver support is necessary from one platform to another with Win 7.

As for the VM I would think that you need to create a Gen 1 VM to restore to and again it may be necessary to run Universal Restore on the recovery for driver support.

Hi another issue which i am facing is primary partition is changes from c drive to d drive during restore. so i guess that also cud be reason for the bluescreen

Hi experts i have restored windows 7 from physical machine to virtual machine on vmware workstation.

When i start the VM i can see starting windows and then vm reboots giving me giving me start manually or repair screen. experts guide me how to troubleshoot from here

Did you try running Universal Restore on the VM? I've restored to a VM without needing Universal Restore, but Iw as restoring a Win10 machine and Win10 seems more tolerant of low level hardware changes.
