[Solved] Upgrade / Downgrade
Hi all
I just purchased online a 5 PCs license of ATI 2017 (eligible for a free upgrade to the 2018 version). Now I have a few questions:
1. Is the offer to update to 2018 timely limited? Do I only have a certain timespan during which I can do the free upgrade?
2. When running into problems using the 2018 version after the upgrade, would I have the possibility to go back / downgrade to the 2017 version? In other words, is the (originally bought) 2017 version still available in my Acronis account after the upgrade to the 2018 version?
3. If 2. Is yes, could I run 2018 machines and 2017 machines in parallel as long as the total number of Pcs don't exceed the original 5?
4. What would you recommend: directly starting with the 2018 version or waiting with the upgrade until the main bugs, which usually are in a new version, are fixed?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Jürgen

Jürgen,
If you haven't already done so, you should establish an Acronis account. The Acronis account will keep track of all your Acronis products, and you can download the full installer files directly from your account. Also, when product updates are provided you won't have to input product passwords, you would use your Acronis account credentials.
I also believe that ATI 2018 is the better version.
Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your reply! I have an Acronis account since years now, several versions of True Image (starting with the 2009 version) are accessible there. Also, the freshly bought 2017 version is listed there
Now, before doing the upgrade, the question is; will the 2017 version still be available in my account when I have done the free upgrade to the 2018 version and can I still use the original licence key to use the 2017 version, in case I would run into difficulties with the 2018 version? At the end, will there be two new versions in the account, the 2017 and the 2018?
Any clarification on this matter would be appreciated. I don't want to run into the situation that I do the upgrade and I cannot go back in case I would have problems.

Jürgen, ATI 2017 will stay in your account. And, in the event you had to uninstall 2018 and reinstall 2017, all you would have to do is sign in with your account credentials after reinstalling 2017.

Ah, okay. This is what I expected! But I was not sure of...
Many, many thanks for your prompt reply!!
One last question am I right, that after downgrading to 2017, I could still do the upgrade to 2018 later on again, when bags might be fixed - without extra cost?

Jürgen, I am not sure if Acronis have a time frame for the upgrade. So I cannot give you a definitive answer. However, I can say that ATI 2018 runs great on my machines...It performed well during beta testing and it gets excellent reviews from the MVPs that are using it.
I highly recommend upgrading to 2018 now. I am confident you will not be disappointed.

Just as an information and clarification I can give the answer to my question myself i have upgraded to 2018 and with the upgrade, you get a new serial number. Both versions, 2017 and 2018, are listed in your account
Many thanks for all your help!
