System backup - size

Thread needs solution

Trying to decide on best package.

Using Easeus Todo backup, a system backup creates a 75GB file (ish).  I had to undertake a recovery after a W10 1803 update crashed the system.  Using a WinPE disc with Easeus it took a staggering 12.5hrs, so thinking about Acronis.

Using Acronis True Image, the backup was the entire C drive (i.e. 222GB), even though 45GB not used.  It was, however, quicker to backup the 222GB than Easeus for the 75GB!

Why does Acronis have to backup the entire disc and is there an option to have a much smaller file size (i.e. as per Easeus) noting that the bigger the file, the more backup space it takes.

Thanks.

Phil, welcome to these User Forums.

It is very difficult for anyone to tell you why there is such a difference in the backup sizes for the two products you have used with only the basic information you have provided?

By default, Acronis will select 'Entire PC' as the backup source and this can include all connected disk drives in the computer, plus there are multiple backup configuration options that can be chosen from.

What is the size of your Windows 10 OS drive, and how many partitions does it have?

If you click through the Source panel (showing Entire PC) you will see further options for doing a Disk & Partitions backup, including when selecting this, choosing one individual drive if you have multiple drives etc.
