Systempartition C: ändert sich während des Backups

Thread needs solution

Hallo zusammen,

Michele, when you are creating backups using the Acronis Windows application, then you are also using the Microsoft VSS snapshot feature to capture the OS data that would be locked by the system otherwise, so this is natural that the amount of free space shown for your drive will decrease during the backup and will revert to your normal values after the process is complete.

You can see the options for the snapshot method on the Advanced settings configuration page for your backup task.  See KB 59440: Acronis True Image 2017: 'Snapshot for backup' option overview for more information on these settings that were introduced from ATI 2017 onwards.

Hello Steve, Thanks for your quick response, it was very helpful, but I wanted to ask why the size of the system disk after recovery is smaller than the size before the recovery.

thank you

Michrle

Michele, one of the default exclusions set by Acronis is for System Volume Information which is where any VSS snapshot data along with any System Protection data is stored, i.e. data for System Restore Points if these are configured.  This can be of a significant size.

Other exclusions include the Pagefile.sys, Swapfile.sys and Hiberfil.sys which again are large files but which are normally recreated when Windows is started after a recovery but may be smaller than their previous sizes.  The Hiberfil.sys will only be created when the computer is either put into a hibernation state or when using Windows Fast Start is used which puts the system into a Hybrid Sleep mode.

There may also be other temporary data which is 'cleaned' via the exclusions.  You should be able to check the contents of the backup image .TIB file to check file / folder sizes by mounting the file to a drive letter.
