Upgrading from acronis true image 2014 to 2018

Thread needs solution

Good morning.

I have a new laptop with windows 10 on it and still using Acronis true image 2014 but just found on the net that that is not a good option because in fact 2014 is not suporting windows 10.

Also read that uninstalling the 2014 edition on a windows 10 laptop may cause problems. So I would like to know if something should happen with the system I am using now if the new Acronis 2018 can restore my disk with a backup that is made with the 2014 version of acronis true image?

Could you also please let me know if I can create a bootable disk with Acronis 2018?

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind help.

Chivas, welcome to these User Forums.

If your ATI 2014 is installed and working with Windows 10 on your system, then it should continue to do so with just the functionality that that version provides.  Acronis do not support the use of ATI 2014 or earlier with Windows 10 but that itself shouldn't be a major issue if it is working for you.

ATI 2018 can restore backup images created by ATI 2014 if you decide to go that route, you can also create bootable Rescue Media with the 2018 version, as you could with 2014.

There are a number of 'extras' included with the 2018 version, including a Ransomware protection feature called Acronis Active Protection, plus the Rescue Media now defaults to using the Windows 10 Recovery Environment to create WinRE / PE versions of the media instead of defaulting to using a Linux Kernel OS.  One other key change (introduced from the 2016 version onwards) is a change to support, that you now would get upto 2 years support with the 2018 or 2017 versions, instead of only 30-days from date of purchase as was the case for 2015 and earlier versions.
