Validate an archive (stuck Calculating time), hit the STOP buttom, ATI is now stuck [rotating circle] "Processing"

Thread needs solution

Just upgraded from ATI 2013 to ATI 2018 (build 9207).

Thought I'd first validate an archive created by ATI 2013. ATI spent several hours 'calculating time' to Validate without seemingly doing anything. I got fed up, so hit the 'STOP' button, and now ATI is stuck consuming lots of CPU and the rotating circle of eternity plus "Processing..." has been showing for another hour.

Not a good start with ATI 2018. Any advice please?

How did you upgrade?  Did you uninstall the 2013 version first?  You would need to do that, uninstall 2013, and then install 2018.

You can open Windows Task Manager, locate the Acronis entries and End Task of the one that is causing the issue.

Hi Enchantech,

I installed 2018 on top of 2013 without uninstalling 2013. Next opportunity I have I will do a clean uninstall of all versions then install 2018 and check again if the Validate works normally.

Thanks for your advice,

RTW

Yeah, the upgrade path should have a full uninstall of older versions.

Upgrading from old versions of Acronis True Image

If your current version of Acronis True Image is Acronis True Image 2016 or Acronis True Image 2017, the new version will simply update it; there is no need to remove the old version and reinstall the software. If your current version is older, we recommend that you remove the current version, first.

Please keep in mind that the backups created by the later program version may be incompatible with the previous program versions. Therefore, if you roll back Acronis True Image to an older version, you likely will have to re-create the backups using the older version. We strongly recommend that you create new bootable media after each product upgrade.

I've uninstalled 2018, run the clean-up utility, re-installed 2018 and have now run the Validate (though it failed - I may leave another post on this futher issue).

Thanks to all for your advice

You can try using the Log Viewer tool (FtrPilots_Log_Viewer)  HERE

You might find how/why the validation failed.
