What is needed for "Universal Restore" from Non UEFI to UEFI.Boot Win10

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

within the next 4 weeks i have to move a PC (NonUefi, Win10 64Bit) to a new one.

The new system will be an UEFI-BIOS.

I am looking for a solution to get an UEFI-Boot System on the new PC.

What would be needed to do that?

At the moment i have ATI 2016 and 2017. No problem if I have to upgrade to the newest version to get the job done.

Would i have to install win10 on new machine in UEFI-Mode and then use universal restore, or can one adjust universal restore to create a Boot-environment in the old Non-UEFI Backup of the old machine?

Thanks for your help.

Migrating from non UEFI to UEFI is mainly a matter of how you use the Acronis Rescue Media to boot on your new computer and then perform a restore of a full disk backup from your old computer.

If you boot the Rescue Media in Legacy mode, then restore will create a  Legacy/MBR partition system.
If you boot the Rescue Media in UEFI mode, then restore will convert the restored disk backup to use GPT and UEFI.

There would be no point in installing Windows 10 on your new computer if you are wanting to migrate you current OS from the old computer as the first action of a restore is to wipe the target drive.

You may not need to use Acronis Universal Restore when migrating between Windows 10 systems unless there will be significant hardware differences that require additional device drivers.

If your new computer does not come already activated for the same version of Windows 10 as you have on your old computer, then you would need a license for the new computer.  Both computers should be activated for the Home or Pro edition to avoid this.
