Windows 10 uninstalls my installation of Acronis

Thread needs solution

This dXX page suddenly recycle after I had spent 10 minutes outlining my problem.

Windows 10 removed my installation of Acronis. When I installed the Win 10 on two (2) computers. It removed several installations, among them Acronis 17. and subsequent updates to Windows 10 removed the installation again. Since I now own three (3) upgrades of Acronis 18, I am reluctant to install them as it takes jumping through several hoops to supply the serial numbers for the reinstalled Acronis. I am tired of reinstalling Acronis just to have the upgrade of Windows 10 remove them and go through the reinstallation process. Has anyone solved this problem as to date Microsoft Windows 10 has not seen fit to leave the Acronis installation alone?

Wbird, I have been running ATI 2017 and 2018 on many Windows 10 systems and gone through all the recent Windows Updates without ever seeing any Acronis program being removed by Windows.

I would recommend opening a Support Case directly with Acronis for this issue if you are able to recreate it by doing a Windows Update, especially as MS have the new Spring Creators Update (1803 or 4?) waiting just around the corner!

I can understand that Windows 10 might uninstall some older versions of ATI from 2014 or earlier, as those were not certified by Acronis to work with Windows 10, but again my own experience has been that even ATI 2014 could survive an OS upgrade, though it was a pain to try to do a new install of the same on Win 10.

I just upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro.  I did a full Acronis backup prior to the upgrade (just in case) and went to do a backup after the upgrade.  Acronis is not installed on this machine; Windows 10 removed it during the upgrade.  The hidden folder for Acronis in ProgramData exists but is now empty.

Windows upgrade to 10 is notorious for removing other programs as well, notably CCleaner (on almost every upgrade from 7 or 8 to 10) because they consider it "incompatible software" - which is crap because I can install the SAME version of CCleaner and it installs and runs just fine.  So, having Windows remove Acronis is not surprising (because Acronis, like CCleaner, trumps Windows 10 software that they want you to use instead so they remove the competition calling it "incompatable" just like they try to tell you Google Chrome is "unsafe" because they want you to use Edge instead.  Nothing new in MicroJunk land).

I'm going to re-create the HD from the Acronis backup made prior to the upgrade and do the upgrade once again to prove it wasn't a fluke.  I'll use the Official Windows Upgrade software and I guarantee you Acronis will be gone from the upgraded installation, just as before.

James, welcome to these public User Forums.

What actual version of Acronis True Image did you have installed that has been uninstalled here?
