ATR Stuck at "Calculating time remaining"

Thread needs solution

My backup did not run two nights ago so I opened Acronis to see what might be the problem. Well, it was trying to back up, but was stuck at "Calculating time remaining". I left it that way for a long time to see if it would move on but it did not. I closed and restarted. No luck. I rebooted and tried again. No luck. I closed all of the Acronis services and tasks that I could find. No luck. I am considering uninstalling and reinstalling but I'm hoping to not have to do that. Any suggestions? I have uploaded a screenshot.

Richard, it is possible that your problem backup task has become corrupted in some way and the way to clear this would be to shutdown ATI and to delete the underlying task script .tib.tis file from the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder.

The .tib.tis files are XML text files that you can open in Notepad and verify the name of the backup task that is shown near the top of the text data.

Once the .tib.tis file has been deleted, the task should disappear from the ATI GUI list, and you should be able to use the 'Add existing backup' option to bring back the most recent backup file then use the Reconfigure button to set the configuration of the task again.

Thanks for the help Steve.  I tried the suggestions and encountered two issues: there are no files in the ProgramData/Acronis/TrueImageHome/Scripts directory and, when I tried to add the existing backup I got the error "Failed to add the backup to the backup list. The backup may be locked or corrupted. Also, make sure the folder contains the last volume of the backup, and does not contain a renamed copy of the same backup."

The particular backup I tried this for no longer exists in the list of backups that I already have.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

Richard

Richard, if you have any tasks shown in the ATI GUI then there should be an associated .tib.tis script file for each task in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder.

This folder path is normally hidden in Explorer so you may need to check your view options to be able to see the path and files.

If there are no .tib.tis files then you will need to do a repair of your ATI installation - see the following document.

KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings

Another option, if you have a recent OS drive / partition backup, you could restore the Scripts folder contents from that to pick up any missing .tib.tis files.

Frustrated.  I have completely uninstalled Acronis and am waiting to hear back from customer service - they are not very quick.
