Cannot complete a back on computer/drive thats worked for years!

Thread needs solution

I've been a using Acronis true image for years. I only backup my computing devices (have 5 licenses) every now and again as use another product for daily prime data replication. Its 2019 Build 17750.
On a Win 10 computer I have been backing up since 2016 TrueImage is failing to complete back when its got <1 minute of validation stage left. The back up image is created and looks complete/about the right size. It is backed up to a USB 3 external HDD.
Initially it started throwing up an error about "Failed to open data stream" so I ended up deleting the entire backup chain and the backup job.

I created a new backup job and now I get similar error as illustrated in Capture1.png - the backup stops and schedules to restart itself. When I quit the message it continues and then comes up with message in Capture2.png. I browse for the original backup (I'm assuming this is what it means by Cannot find 1) then fails again at the end of that backup and I go around the same loop! It created multiple small incremental backup files.
The external HDD stays connected and accessible throughout.

Edward, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please use the new MVP Assistant tool which can be found via the Acronis Community tools link in my signature, this will give you access to the log files for your problem backup task, which in turn should help shed more light on why the backup is having problems.

For ATI 2019, you should be looking at the Demon logs in the tool.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
