cannot select destination disk (greyed out)

Thread needs solution

hello,

I want to restore a Windows7 backup on my laptop.

I have formatted the disk on the laptop.

During the restore procedure I cannot select a destination disk because all the options are greyed out.

Can you please help me find a workaround?

Have I done a mistake formatting the laptop disk?

(I'm not very skilled)

thank you

Is the Windows 7 backup from the same system or a different one?

If it is a different system, formatting before backing that disk up was probably not a good idea as you should backup that existing disk as a recovery point too!

Please advise on the 1st question and we can go from there.

trewq, welcome to these public User Forums.

How have you formatted the laptop disk?
What type of disk is this?
How are you attempting to do the restore, what type of media is being used?

The first suggestion here would be to try using the option to 'Add new disk' before doing the restore to see if this will show you the laptop disk as an option.
