Reboot required

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I'm running the latest Acronis True Image 2019 144110 from a usb stick. I'm trying to clone from a Samsung nvme drive to a  harddisk connected thru usb.

The cloning process halts at step 1. It says reboot is required. I attach a screenshot

What do I have to do to continue the cloning process?

Thankful for some assistance!

Thor, welcome to these User Forums.

My initial thought on seeing your screen shot is to wonder if you have selected the incorrect source & target for your clone operation?

I have never seen 'reboot required' when using the Acronis USB Rescue Media.

Please ensure that you have made a full disk backup of your main OS drive in the computer where you are doing the clone and of the source NVMe disk if this is different to the OS drive.

With both ATI 2018 & 2019, you can use the Live Clone feature from within the Windows ATI application, where provided the target drive does not already contain a recognised OS installation will normally be able to complete fully without any restart being needed.  If your target HDD has previously had Windows installed, then use Windows Disk Management to remove this before trying the live clone.

Thor,

If the target disk (HDD connected via USB) has/had a previous install of another operating system then this may cause the clone to ask for a reboot.

You should use Microsoft diskpart Clean command from an admin command prompt top clear all data from the disk then run the clone again.

Thanks Steve and Enchantech for your replies!

I did as Steve suggested and erased the Windows partition on the target disk using Windows Disk Management. Then the cloning process worked perfect.

I tries to always have a fresh clone in case of a disk failure. I will remember to always erase the Windows partition on the target disk before cloning.

Thanks again for your help!

Thor, thanks for the update, glad to hear all have gone OK for the clone.

Glad to hear
