Upgrade from 2018 to 2019

Thread needs solution

I purchased a 3 PC Acronis 2018 on 24 April 2018.

In August 2018 Acronis 2019 was released, and I am being asked for a substantial upgrade price to move to the new version.

I think I should be entitled to a no cost upgrade to 2019 given how short a time to the new version.

This is a user forum, so no one here can change the policy on this matter.

Acronis have an annual product cycle for ATI, with new version being released in August-September. A free upgrade is provided for those purchasing the prior version going back about a month before release. See for example the release notes for ATI 2019. During the product cycle Acronis offer discount deals, for example on Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts of about 50% (amount of discount varied slightly depending on the country).

Still a rip.  I'm sure plenty of others who bought even more recently than me would be similarly overjoyed.

Posting in the user forum might alert others to this gouge.

I've seen that post.  Pity it isn't linked for information when purchasing the software so consumers would be aware before splashing the cash.

Even more annoying was the fact that the rescue boot media I built on my Dell 7380 did not have touchpad support, no matter how many drivers I attempted to install into the build.  The boot media didn't support the touchpad until update release in June.

The product was effectively useless to me till then.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Acronis licensing scheme.  You purchased a license for ATI 2018.  Assuming this was a standard license and not a subscription you can now use ATI 2018 on your 3 computers for as long as you like..  When you decide you want to upgrade you can purchase an upgrade to the then current version - ATI 2019, 2020, whatever.
