Way to add AMD RAID to regular Acronis Bootable Media (based on Linux)
I have a 1950x Threadripper on a Gigabyte X399 Aorus Gaming 7 using 3 NVME drives in RAID 0. While the linux-based Acronis boot disc recognizes all of my Intel-based RAID arrays, it will not recognize AMD's implementation of RAID. Anyway you guys can add that to the Linux-based disc?
I am well aware I can create a WinPe-based boot media (and I have, and it works). However, it takes longer to load and I hate having multiple Acronis boot discs for different computers. One Acronis boot disc that works with all (and boots fast) is what I am requesting. The Linux-based Acronis media is what I am after. I just want to add RAID drivers to the Linux version to accomplish my goal of 'one ring to rule them all.'
Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. Like I said, making the WinPE version is not a big deal. I just prefer to have one Acronis boot media that I can rely on for all systems.
The AMD NVME RAID driver is standard for AMD x399 boards, so its not like I am asking for something custom.
I suppose I'll have to take this up with Acronis support. Again, thanks for the reply.

Roger that. Yeah, it would be "custom" in regards to a variation in the Linux media that Acronis is currently providing.
FYI, if you do go the WinPE route - check out our MVP version of it (linked over to the right in the forums). It will build WinPE with things like file explorer, an Internet browser, screen capture, etc. It can come in handy for other uses as well - like a very basic, but semi-usable and portable OS.

Oh, that sounds pretty useful. Generally speaking, I only boot to an Acronis boot disk to create or restore images. But I suppose switching over to a WinPE version has additional benefits to combine other tools. Thanks for the tip!

You've obviously never played with Linux. First, you need the driver. Linux drivers show up very slowly after new hardware is introduced. Maybe a year later in some cases. Second, adding a driver to Linux requires recompiling the kernel. You need the Linux distribution used by Acronis and a lot of training to recompile the kernel. That explains why the Acronis Linux recovery media has been so bad at hardware support over the years. That will never change.

For some reason, the WinPE recovery disk sometimes complains that it cannot lock a particular disk. It tells me to use the Linux recovery disk, but since the Linux recovery disk doesn't have support for my RAID controller (IRST), that suggestion makes for more hassle.
[Yes, I can recover using the AHCI mode and then switch back to RAID when the recovery is complete.]
FYI, there are instructions for "converting" a Windows installation from RAID to AHCI: http://triplescomputers.com/blog/uncategorized/solution-switch-windows-10-from-raidide-to-ahci-operation/ Although it doesn't say so in the instructions, you can go the other direction using the same process.
