Accessing files from earlier existing backups

Thread needs solution

I perform full backups weekly, and then daily differential backups of my c: partition. I want to access a file which was present in a backup prior to the most recent full backup. I keep several weeks worth of these chains before they are deleted by ATI.

When I "add an existing backup" using the GUI, I point to the older full backup. The activity log shows that is has been "added". But I don't see it in the GUI and can't access the older version of the files I am seeking.

How can I accomplish my goal? Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions.

Harry, welcome to these public User Forums.

If your backup task is shown in the main ATI application panel, then there is no need to use the option to 'Add existing backup' as it is already present!

You can restore your files in two different ways, one from within the ATI application using the Recovery panel, then selecting the date / time of the backup file you want to use for the file, or via Explorer.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.
