ATI 202 Fiel format

Thread needs solution

Hi, I'm still confused by the new file format (tibx) in ATI2020. I make different backups in the differential format. I used to be able to delete the last or some interim backups in a chain as long as the first (full) backup file was saved. Now how does this work with the new tibx format? The incremental ones are simple because they are all stored now in one file but the differential ones? Is it still possible to delete an interim or last backup without the backup becoming unusable? I have read a lot about it, but I still find it complicated, until ATI2019 it was much clearer.

Angel, the new .tibx file format brings with it much tighter rules about handling files.

Personally, I would recommend not deleting any differential files from a backup chain but to use the options provided by either automatic cleanup or the Clean up versions tool to manage the size of the backup data.

I did some testing recently for another user topic where even full backups are no longer independent and cannot be deleted without breaking the chain they were a part of!
