ATI2020 backups not usable anymore due to .tibx file corruption after network problem

Thread needs solution

Hello everybody,

I am using ATI2020 for daily backups of my Win10 instaöllation to a NAS System, incremental scheme, 6 increments, max 8 chains. This worked well so far, and I have 48 backup versions I can select from.

Now during a recent backup an unexpected network error was reported in the middle of the backup und the backup failed. Not a problem I thought.

Next day ATI reported that the .tibx File is corrupted, and I can no longer use ANY of the 48 backup files !!! Always get the same error. Seems the complete chain of backups is useless due to one File error ??! Hard to believe, as this would undermine the reliability of ATI backups entirely, since network errors, or even sudden poer losses can always occur, and I think it is acceptable that file corruptions may be a conseqquence of such events, but not that all (48 in my case) backup versions will essentially be lost.

Now what can I do ? Any suggestions ?

Meanwhile I created a new backup scheme, so I am again creating usable backups, but I can not accept that the old backup chain might be completely useless.

With the "old" .tib formats this would not have been a problem, I could have easily fallen back to the last full backup (chain).

Thanks for any help.....

Rudolf, for the original backup task that was interrupted by the network issue, click on the task menu and open the Clean up versions tool, then use this tool to remove the most recent backup incremental slice for the task, which should allow the backup chain to be seen as OK again.

Note: you may need to Validate the latest backup chain.

With the new .tibx backup chains introduced with ATI 2020, there are greater dependencies between chains such that any unwanted chains or files must be removed using either the Clean up versions tool, or else via the task 'automatic cleanup' options only!

Thanks for the Infos ....

And sorry to everybody, I obviously created 2 (almost) identical Forum entries ....

I suggest we can close this one, and follow up on the other entry:

This happened to me as well this morning. I did a regular monthly backup (manual, not scheduled). It said it completed successfully but when I checked it by clicking on the external drive (via Windows, not browser) I got the message about an error occurring due to corruption, another process or permissions.

I have checked the backup every time for over a year with no problems. I tried to follow the advice above but my menu does not have a Clean Up Versions tool that I can see--just System Clean Up and Acronis Drive Cleanser. The first just seems to want to make space available on my drive/s. The second warns about erasing stuff and doesn't give any option to back out recent changes.

Help! My original data is fine but it now appears Acronis is worthless as a backup to external drive.
