Backing up my main Windows System M.2 Drive to an external HD?

Thread needs solution

Hi, I'm really confused, I've tried reading various topics but nothing really points to what my exact problem is:

I have my main Boot Drive, which is a 250GB M.2 Drive, which runs Windows 10 and all of my other programs. What I'm wanting to do is make a total image/copy of that Drive, but to save that image/copy on an external HD in case I need to format my M.2, thereby eliminating having to install from a new state, I'm sick of having to re-install all of my programs and settings every time I want to format my M.2

Could somebody please help me? Much appreciated!

Michael, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you have installed ATI 2020 then you are all set to make backup images of your main boot drive regardless of the type of drive it is.

My own laptop has a Samsung EVO 970 Plus NVMe M.2 SSD and I make regular backups to a number of different destinations which include to a second internal HDD, an external USB HDD and to my NAS across my local network.

I would recommend reading through the first few sections of the ATI 2020 User Guide which will give you a good introduction to how to use the application to create your backups.
