Chain of Events ( I am not happy)

Thread needs solution

Let me tell you why I am so mad about TI2020.

Chain of events:

- created a full backup task (FULL DISK) where OS resides

- ran a Backup a week ago (48GB FILE to a NAS)

- Decided to install new software

- OK, ran the backup again (another 48GB File to NAS)

- Installed software

- Not happy with software (not a problem, let me restore my backup)

- Probably it is faster to copy backup file to USB drive from NAS

- OK, copy the most recent file file, right? It is a full backup anyway.

- Boot, start Acronis True Image, choose file from USB, all good right?

- NOPE, Acronis True image requires previous backup files. WHY? It is a full backup!!!!

REQUEST: Please make full backups independent of previous backups.

If you wish to make a suggestion about changes to ATI 2020, you should do two things. First include the suggestion in an in App feedback: click on Help then Send Feedback. Second, if you have not already done so, place your suggestion/request in this thread: Acronis True Image Wishlist

As to they why, that is the way it is designed to work. Not a real explanation; but I suspect it has something to do with the way *.tibx backups are structured.

See forum topic: Full Backups no independent entity - where the core issue here was discussed previously.  There is a zipped powershell script here in that topic which moves full backup files to another location to help keep them completely independent of each other.

Dear cmr,

I've added this topic as a vote for the change request TI-190052 Independent Full backups, for our product management to review and consider future changes.
