Deleting backups didn't delete any files associated with it

Thread needs solution

I recently reconfigured a back up.  Accidentally, I had daily backups running.  When I realized, I deleted a full version and a few incremental versions, leaving only my original full and the next incremental.

Unfortunately, my tibx files stayed the same size (I think, but not positive).  I have a file.tibx and a file-0001.tibx.

The file.tibx can be mounted.  The file-0001.tibx cannot be mounted, though it can be validated.

Can you please advise on how I determine if the -0001 file can be removed. I so much preferred the older versioning method with multiple files instead of changing one file with many internal parts.

Mike, if you have deleted any files using Explorer then this will corrupt the metadata that links backups in ATI 2020 when .tibx files are used.

Incremental backups for .tibx files are always consolidated into the same .tibx file as the initial full backup and do not create separate files as was the case with incrementals using .tib files.

The correct method of removing any unwanted backup files in ATI 2020 and later is to use the 'Clean up versions' tool which will correctly manage the metadata and update the database used to track files etc.  The tool is found in the task drop-down menu that is shown when you click on the caret (v) to the right of the task name.
