File recover error "Recovery stopped by user" (True Image 2020)

Thread needs solution

I have two hard drives in my laptop - C is 250G and D is 2T. My Acronis backup is on an external HD (E)

This morning the D drive no longer exists. I tried to restore my D drive to another 2T external drive (F) but I receive an error message "Recovery was stopped by user". It does recover some files but not many before the process is stopped. I read that it might being stopped by Bitdefender so I removed it but still no go.

Can anyone help?

Gary, welcome to these public User Forums.

What exactly do you mean when you say that 'the D drive no longer exists'?  Has your D: drive died / failed?

When attempting to restore the backup of the D: drive from your external E: drive, how are you doing this?
Are you doing the recovery from within Windows using the ATI 2020 GUI application?

Are you recovering the backup as a Disk recovery, or are you doing a Files & Folders recovery?

Was there any existing data on the F: external drive?  Is that data still present?

There is a new MVP Assistant log viewer tool that has now been made available by Acronis via the Community Tools page..

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backup using same) then look in the Demon logs.

The log for your recovery attempt should hold more information about what is happening here?  The log should be found in either the Backup Worker folder if doing a Disk recovery, else in the Demon folder for a File recovery.

Note: one test you should do is to double-click on the ATI Backup archive file on your E: drive then navigate within the Explorer panel shown to ensure that you can see the files and folders from your D: drive.
