Full backup can not open

Thread needs solution

I have a couple of tib files such as

Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB_full_b96_s1_v1.tib
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB_full_b629_s1_v1.tib

Which when I try to validate or open come back with This is not the last volume of the backup archive.

I would have thought that being a full backup, these should be able to be opened stand alone

I have tested the files in 2020 and 2021 (2021 was supports suggestion)

anybody got any tricks for opening these files ?

Ed, have you tried just double-clicking on these .tib files in Explorer on the system where ATI 2020 is installed?  Do they open in Explorer and can you walk through the contents in that way?

Were these .tib files created by ATI 2020 or by a different version?

Are these disk backups created by ATI 2020, and if so, have they been renamed from .tibx to .tib which will definitely give a 'corrupted' outcome?

Support got me to load trial version of 2021.

I have tried to open via explorer, nothing happens except ATI opens showing the default backup scheme.

Right click - mount - says Failed to open  XXXXXX.tib Make sure the backup location is accessible and contains all versions of the backup. Click ok and "Unknown error has occurred.

Right click  Validate  - gives the error Failed to add the backup to the backup list. etc

I started with Acronis True Image 2017, which was upgraded to Acronis True Image 2019, then upgraded to Acronis True Image 2020.
Since the files are from 2017, then 2019 I can only assume they are from those versions.

I kept full copies for archive purposes.

I have also tried on another  machine loading boot rescue 2020 and 2021 via a copy to an external drive

I would suggest trying a copy of the Linux variant of the boot media.  You can download the .ISO file for that from your Acronis account.
