Full Disk Backup - Deleting Earlier version corrupts later version
Using Acronis 2020, I created a full disk backup. I set the backup method to Full so that the versions would not depend on each other. I created several backups. Acronis gave them filenames: COMPUTERNAME-FULL DISK.tibx COMPUTERNAME-FULL DISK-0001.tibx COMPUTERNAME-FULL DISK-0002.tibx I decided that I no longer needed the first two backups so I used windows to delete COMPUTERNAME-FULL DISK.tibx COMPUTERNAME-FULL DISK-0001.tibx I am now trying to restore some files from COMPUTERNAME-FULL DISK-0002.tibx but Acronis says An error occurred while opening the backup archive . . . . I verified this behavior with some known good backups. If I move the original backup from the folder and try to open a later backup then I get the same error. The error is resolved when I move the original backup back into the folder containing the later backup. This seems wrong. If I do a full backup then it should be able to stand on its own. I contacted Acronis support and they said I am out of luck.

In ATI 2020, due to the new .tibx format, it is especially important to not move, delete, or rename files outside of the Acronis GUI. The metadata will always be tied to the very first file (which gets shrunk to 12KB and left behind, but required, after any automated cleanups too). Please see:
