google file drive sync on Mac backs up everything even if excluded

Thread needs solution

Hello

macbook pro. wifi only available, so always seek to minimise backup upload size!

I have a GFDS account, with about 500Gb of content. All set to 'online only'.

Mac HDD is 500Gb, 350Gb of data on it.

I exclude GFDS folder from backup

Acronis still thinks there is 850Gb of data to back up with no exclusions set.

I can get the backup to realise that there is only 80Gb that needs backing up by excluding all online services manually (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Backup and Sync, iCloud drive) and then logging out of GFDS *and* manually excluding  ~/Library/Application Support/Google/DriveFS/ from the back up.

If I log back in, it tries to add the whole 500Gb in Googel File Drive (cloud copies) to the backup again.

Any chance of having a simple 1-click exclusion for GFDS like you already have for Google Back up and Sync?

Thanks!

Davie, welcome to the Acronis User Forums. User forums are usually not a good way to get suggestions to Acronis engineers. The best way would be to send in-App feedback with either a link to this thread or including the information you have included. You can find feedback by clicking on the help icon (bottom left) and selecting "Feedback". I may be useful to click on the Attach System Report as this will include log files which will be of assistance in dealing with the issue should Acronis decide to do so. I would also suggest creating a support ticket by contacting Acronis technical support.

Hello David,

please let me know, if you sent the feedback with logs. It would be also helpful, if you include the steps to reproduce this issue, so that we can pass it to the QA team right away.
