How to perform partial restore of files and folders

Thread needs solution

Happy New Years to all.

I built my PC and an running Windows 10.  The operating system is on a small SSD drive.  I installed three SATA drives to store Photos, data etc.  One of the three Hard Drives stopped working.  I found the data on an Acronis Backup(.tif file).

I would like to restore the data from the dead Hard Drive without the data from the remaining two hard drives.  I have been doing backups of all hard drives at the same setting.

Would someone be kind enough is walking me through how to do a partial restore of selected files and folders?

Secon d question:  Am I able to do restore to a hard drive which already has data contained on it, or should I use a clean and empty hadr drive for the restore?

Thank you so much for the anticipated reply.

Ronald, there are various options open to you depending on how you want to approach this recovery?

If you have replaced the failed SSD drive with a new drive, then you could do a disk recovery from your backup image to the new drive.

If you want to recover the files & folders to an existing drive containing data, then you can either use the ATI GUI to do the recovery of selected files / folders, or else use Copy & Paste commands from Explorer to do the same providing you ensure that your are not likely to overwrite any files / folders that already exist with the same names.

KB 65539: Acronis True Image 2021: How to restore your computer with WinPE-based or WinRE-based media

See KB 65547: Acronis True Image 2021: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) and scroll down the page to 'How to restore files in File Explorer' which you should find easier to use if only wanting to recover some files, allowing you to use normal Copy & Paste commands.
