Invisible M.2 hard drive ?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm trying to backup the hard drive of a computer (Dell Precision 3430) equipped with a M.2 SSD

The main problem is when I start Acronis TIB 2020 through a flash drive (USB key), the M.2 hard drive is not seen (invisible) and therefore, I can't backup it :-(

Is there any limitation concerning TIB 2020 and M.2 SSD drives ? Any possibility (tips/tricks) in order to backup a M.2 SSD drive with TIB 2020 ?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Geoffrey.

PS : Sorry for my bad english but french is my mother tongue ;-)

Geoffrey, welcome to these public User Forums.

ATI 2020 is fully capable of seeing & backing up NVMe M.2 drives from the standard WinPE based rescue media provided you boot from this using the correct UEFI boot mode.

See KB 63226: Acronis True Image 2020: how to create bootable media

KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

One important point is to ensure that you have fully shutdown the computer before booting from the rescue media to avoid using it when the system is in a hybrid sleep or hibernation state.

To do a full shutdown, press & hold the Shift key while clicking on Shutdown.
