New Laptops (Windows 10 & Windows 11) hard drive not seen when using Acronis Rescue media to backup
I have 2 new laptops that I would like to perform a one time backup of using Acronis True Image 2020 via a USB flash drive. I created the rescue media and can boot into it but when I try to run the backup the only drives listed is the rescue media itself and the external USB drive I plugged in to store the backup on. The internal SSD drive is not listed. The one laptop is a Lenovo ThinkBook and the other is an HP Envy.
Any ideas why I would not be able to see the internal drives?

I'll give that a try and will post the result later today. Thanks.

I built the WINPE version and booted one of the laptop off of it but it still does not show the internal hard drive.
The laptop I tried it on was the HP Envy, when I open device manager the drive is listed as NVMe SK hynix BC711 HFM512GD3JX013N. The volume info shows the following:
Disk 0
Type: Basic
Partition Style GUID Partition Table (GPT)
When I built the WINPE recovery media was there any other drivers that I should have added?

I built a new rescue media this time selecting WINRE as the type. I booted off that rescue media and I was able to see the internal hard drive.
I don't understand why the WINPE did not see it.

Alan, WinPE is a rather sparse version which is not device specific and includes no OEM drivers. WinRE, on the other hand, starts with WinPE but also includes drivers appropriate to your system. Your version of WinRE was probably built by HP for that specific machine.

Alan, further to the comments from Bruno, the options here are:
Install Acronis on each laptop and create the WinRE media on each system so that it picks up the required device drivers for that system.
Identify the specific disk drive drivers on each laptop, capture the drivers using a tool such as Double Driver and then inject them into your rescue media using the option provided in the media builder tool.
Note: you should only need to add the extra disk / disk controller drivers and not attempt to add in any larger volume of drivers such as the contents of the drivers folders!

Steve, if Alan was successful in building the WinRE version, which it appears he was, there should be no need to inject any drivers. Or am I misunderstanding what you are thinking?

He has two laptops, one is a HP Envy, the other a Lenovo Thinkpad, so drivers will be different for each one. Rescue media would need drivers for both if only one set is being used, else media created for each laptop using WinRE. This raises the question of how many licenses he has, i.e. only one or one for each laptop or one for a desktop and none for the laptops?

I built the WinRE on the Lenovo laptop and it actually worked for both. I will probably build another WinRE off the HP itself just to be safe.
