No notification if backup has zero bytes

Thread needs solution

I have not received backup notifications for two days and I couldn't figure out why. I went online and the logs there showed that it ran successfully, but the size of the save sets was zero KB.  That could be true, it's been quiet. So that makes me believe that it doesn't send ANY notification if the backup process completes, but there is not data backed-up because nothing has changed. I'm monitoring my email using batch in order to provide better notifications of this and other system conditions. I have two questions:

  1. Am I correct, that it doesn't notify even when it runs successfully, but the save set size is 0?
  2. Is there a way to get a status notification EVERY time it runs?

James, welcome to these public User Forums.

Which method are you using to see Notifications for your task?

Are you using the global notifications from the Acronis servers / dashboard?

Are you using the task based notifications configured for each task in the options pages?

The latter should send an email for every backup action regardless of size as far as I understand.

Thank you for your reply Steve, and I apologize for being so late in replying. Apparently I wasn't getting these notifications either. Today I received notification that I had a reply. Not sure why the timing was the way it was.

In answer to your question, I am using both. I get two notifications of a normal completion, one from my email address and one from noreply-abc@cloud.acronis.com. If I understand what you're telling me, the one that comes from my email address is the one that is controlled by the notifications tab in the options for each backup task. Is that correct?

It sounds as though that is better notification to use for this. I don't need two and the other one relies on another server to be operating in order to work. So if I just use the task based notifications I'm more likely to get what I want.

I haven't been aware of the problem lately... maybe because no days have gone by without data in the backup.
