Replacing PC: Clone disk or backup?
I currently have True Image 2020 and have a MS Surface laptop that I need to replace. I will be replacing it with the exact same laptop - three is nothing wrong with the laptop - it's only a month old, but MS is now offering a discount on the laptop and told me the only way I can get the discount is by returning and repurchasing. I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone can help with: 1. What is the best way for me to setup my replacement laptop, i.e., should I restore it from an Acronis backup or should I create a "Clone disk" and restore it that way? 2. What is the difference between a fully backup and a cloned disk and when would you use one vs the other? 3. I have a single license stand alone version for True Image 2020 - will I need to "transfer" the license to my new PC and if so how do I do that?

Richard, in addition to the advice given by Enchantech, please ensure that the new Surface is activated for Windows 10 before you restore your backup from the old computer to it - this will help you avoid activation issues due to changed hardware.
I would also recommend making a full backup of the new Surface before doing the restore even if this is a 'just in case' backup!
See KB 62744: Acronis True Image 2020 (Windows): "You've exceeded the maximum number of activations for this serial number" - for moving your license to the new computer.
