Restoring files from True Image 2020 backup written by PCOLD to PCNEW

Thread solved

I have been using True Image 2020 backing up to an external drive with Full and Differential backups for a number of month. OS is a Windows 10 Home PC with the system name "PC_OLD". The external drive shows a number of True Image backups. PC_OLD, PC_OLD-0001, PC_OLD-0002, PC_OLD-003 ...

This PC_OLD finally dies. Since this PC is a few years old with some programs and files I no longer need. I decided not doing a Complete Restore of PC_OLD, but a fresh clean Windows 10 Home on PC_NEW, then installing the programs I need.

I have True Image 2020 installed in this PC_NEW. How do I restore the some files from this external drive that was written by PC_OLD to PC_NEW. Not application but text, word, image files ... When I go into True Image 2020 on PC_NEW, I do not see a choice of picking this external drive. I see the external drive and the True Image backups in File Manager. What am I missing in order to pick out those files to restore them?

Thank you in advance.

Martin, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.

Thank you Steve. Your instructions worked. Trying again Acronis True Image read the hard drive from my PC_OLD. I was then able to search through the directories and recover just the files I needed. Worked like a charm!

Thank you for your help.
