Slow boot after installing Acronis True Image 2020

Thread solved

After installing ATI 2020, the boot time on my PC has increased to about 60 seconds (about 40 seconds of these in the "Applying Computer Settings" state prior to login, and about 20 seconds in the "Preparing Windows" state when logging in). Prior to the ATI install, the boot took less than 5 seconds overall.

I have tried each of the below (no improvements):
- Disabling Active Protection
- Disabling all Acronis processes
- Removing all Acronis kernel drivers (except for fltsrv.sys and snapman.sys)

This only leaves fltsrv.sys and snapman.sys as possible causes. I could not boot the system without these, so there must be other elements dependent on these that I could not find.

Has anyone had a similar experience, and can suggest what to try?

Laz, welcome to these public User Forums.

See the following KB documents that may help with this issue:

KB 36429: Acronis Software: exclude program folders and executables from antivirus and other security programs

KB 46430: Acronis Software: Making Acronis Products Compatible with Antivirus Software

If the above documents do not help, then I would recommend opening a support case direct with Acronis to allow them to investigate this issue with you.

Thanks Steven - I can confirm that definitely improved the boot up time. In fact, I'm encouraged by that and have turned the Active Protection back on and see if that is now workable (I was experiencing unexpected delays with that turned on).

Would you know if there are additional exclusions to virus scans that need to be applied for Active Protection?

Thanks and regards,

Laz.

Laz, it should be sufficient to just whitelist the Acronis & other security programs to each other without needing to set any virus scan exceptions (at least for ATI 2020 and earlier - this may change with ATI 2021 which is going to include a virus scanner feature!).
