struggle with image recovery 001

Thread needs solution

The problem is my hard drive went bad and I need to recover from an image backup.  I had religiously made image backup files using Acronis for over a year.  Now suddenly when I need one the Acronis recovery program tells me they are all corrupt, every one of my dot TIB files.  Day after day the system had emailed me that another successful backup has been completed.  Now I discover that actually I had never successfully backed up?  Must I accept this?  Why did I do all that work? Why did I buy the Acronis program?  Now how am I going to replace all my programs without days of extra work? Here is my error message:  Acronis True Image backup archive file is corrupted. If the backup is an image, you may try to recover data from it by mounting the image and recovering intact data.

Ben, welcome to these public User Forums.

What version of ATI was used to create your backup files?  Was it ATI 2020 as per this forum?

How are you attempting to do the recovery of these backup files?

If you are using Acronis Rescue Media (on DVD or USB stick or drive) then which version of ATI was used to create that rescue media?

What is the file extension of the backup files?  Are they .TIB or are they the new .TIBX files?

Note: if you attempt to recover ATI 2020 .TIBX files from rescue media created by ATI 2019 or earlier, then these will be deemed to be corrupt because only ATI 2020 & later knows what to do with the new .TIBX file types.

Final question (for now): what is the current state of play for this PC?
Is it still non-bootable with no Windows OS, has the failed hard drive been replaced by a new one?
