True Image changes name of computer

Thread solved

I am running True Image 2020 build 38530 on a Dell laptop with Windows 10 and saving backups to an external Western Digital Passport hard drive.  I have made several backups for this computer named JoesTouchScreen.  I click Options, Backup Scheme and choose Custom and then Full.  All had been going well.  Yesterday, I tried backing up and it failed.  It said 'the specified file does not exist'. Then I noticed that somehow the computer name in the Acronis backup window had changed to JoesTouchScreen 1207.  So I thought that might be the problem.  I tried to change the name back to JoesTouchScreen but couldn't  So I uninstalled Acronis and then reinstalled.  Name came up as JoesTouchScreen-1.  I tried to create a backup and it succeeded. The saved file is listed as JoesTouchScreen-1.  But now I have related worries.  First, how can I prevent the name from randomly changing when I backup?  What happens if I need to restore a backup when opening True Image , the name changes and True Image does not recognize the saved backup files due to different names?  How can I delete the backups that were created under the original name?  When I use the drop down menu and select 'clean up versions', the versions with the old name doesn't show.  But when I use 'This PC' to examine the files on the external drive, the old files show.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you for your time and help.

Sorry for the duplicate post.  Thanks for the links.  I've read them and they were both helpful and informative.  I think that I have an idea of what happened.  I would like your, or anyone else's, opinion on what I plan to do now.  The previous backups and not needed at this time so I will delete whatever previous backups I can using the True Image "clean up versions" option.  Then I will use windows to delete all other previous backups (including the 12 KB file with the old name).  Then uninstall and reinstall True Image.  I think that will give me one and only one clean version (with only one name).  Then create a new backup and a new rescue media builder.  Do you or anyone else foresee any problems with this plan?

Thank you for your time and help.

Joe, the plan sounds fine though am not sure that you need to uninstall & reinstall again for this issue.

If you have removed all existing backup files and tasks using the Clean up versions tool for any shown in the GUI, and Explorer (with Acronis Active Protection turned off), then you should be able to create your new backup task.

It might be best to use a new / unique name for the new backup task just to keep things straight.

If your current rescue media is working fine and was created with the latest build of ATI, then that too shouldn't need to be recreated.

Steve, I followed your suggestions and all went well.  I can now relax, confident that I have a usable backup.  Again, thanks for your assistance.
