True Image suddenly cannot access NAS

Thread needs solution

I have a NAS running UnRaid which Acronis True Image has been backing up to (from Win10 PC) since February. Today I added another backup, just a folder containing image files, which seemed to finish (the file size was correct, 943MB) but then the error "Please close the application that may currently use the file: \\Nasbox\nas\Acronis\Scanned Photos_full_b1_s1_v1.tib". Acronis then re-tried another 6 times, each time writing the same amount onto the NAS. I deleted and recreated the task, but the same. I tried following the advice of some forum posts (using regedit, clearing SMB, re-booting router etc.) with no luck. I then un-installed True Image, cleared the data on the NAS, restarted my PC and re-installed True Image. I created a new backup task, selected the NAS and now the True Image progress bar stops quickly at 31MB every time, with the same error message as above after a couple of minutes. The destination folder on the NAS is empty.

(1)  The NAS is totally accessible as a network drive from Windows, writes, reads, deletes all work.

(2)  I tried using the network address of the NAS instead of the drive letter, no change.

(3)  When I go to the online dashboard I see the error “Windows error: (0x80070005) Access is denied” for the backup task.

(4)  If I select another drive in my PC, the backup works.

(5)  Other applications (Word, Photoshop) can access the NAS with no problems.

A logfile for a failed task is attached.

Lawrence, welcome to these public User Forums.

I am not seeing any real clues in the log for this issue other than the obvious error message itself.

Have you tried using a completely different backup task name, with no spaces or special characters etc?
