Universal Restore fails due to "pae" - restore WinXP

Thread needs solution

Hallo,

"This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae"

Stefan

Assuming that pae is 'by default' for Linux-based boot files in version 2020, I have dated from True Image 2018 to 2020 - unfortunately the same error.

Who can give me a tip for creating a suitable boot medium?

Stefan, welcome to these public User Forums.

KB 57321: Acronis True Image: "This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae" Error gives the official Acronis position on PAE support.

However, you can create Linux based ATI 2020 rescue media with support for non-PAE processors by using the Linux kernel parameter 'forcepae' in the Acronis rescue media builder tool.

I have used this myself for an older IBM T42 laptop with a non-PAE processor.

I have not tried using the forcepae parameter with Acronis Universal Restore media but it provides a panel to enter Linux kernel parameters, so should be able to do the same too.

Note: I would suspect that your old Windows XP system is 32-bit so you do not need to select the 64-bit options for the rescue media components.
