What happened to my backup incremental? "Won't show in Recovery tab..."?

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis for years, most recently 2019 Home, but just installed 2020 on a new computer I'm setting up. I created the basic C drive incremental backup to an external HDD and ran it yesterday. Fine, no problem. Just now, after further set-up adjustments to the computer, I ran backup again. Under Actvity, both runs show. Under Recovery, it says, "No data to recover." In the backup folder on the HDD, only one backup file shows, and it has today's date. It used to be, that the full one showed, then the incrementals underneath. Why is this happening? Also, when I go to check the location using "Change location," when I click on the folder holding the backup file, I get a pop-up reading "Previously created backup versions will not be shown in the Recovery tab of this backup. To recover them, first add them as an existing backup." I have no idea what that means. Will someone please help me out with these two questions?

Philip, there appears to be a couple of different issues at play here for you.

First, the 'No data to recovery' indicates a loss of linkage between the ATI app and the file(s) stored in your backup destination.

You can resolve this by clicking on the option to 'Add existing backup' and selecting the most recent file from your backup location - this will relink the file to the GUI task and allow the Recovery panel to show the correct information again.

Second, if you change the Destination for an existing backup task, then the existing files created by that task will remain in the original location and any new files will be created in the new location, so the message you saw saying:  "Previously created backup versions will not be shown in the Recovery tab of this backup. To recover them, first add them as an existing backup." is correct.

If you really want to have the task use a different destination and have all the files together, then you should use the option to 'Move' the entire backup, but this will only be shown for tasks that have created or are using the .tib file formats.  It is not available for new disk backup tasks creating .tibx files!

Steve, thank you very much, and please forgive my delay in responding. It's taking me quite a while, in spare time, to complete the computer transfer.

I have added the two back-ups. The various versions show in the Activity tab, as before. However, I continue to see only one back file in the relevant folder for my C-drive backup on the external backup HDD. Since my back up is incremental, I don't understand why I am not seeing the same list of versions I see in the activity tab. The one displayed on the HDD shows the full back up size and today's day and time when I ran the latest about 20 minutes ago. The same is true for the data drive backup which has its own folder on the external HDD.

I hope I am explaining this clearly enough.

Thanks.
